Project Chronicle is a free technology preview from Autodesk Research that makes it extremely convenient and easy for users to capture, share, and learn from software workflows. Project Chronicle consists of a recording utility to capture recordings, and a website that displays the recordings as Chronicles, interactive video tutorials. The videos can be shared publically or set to private, so that they can be used as internal training materials for a private office or classroom.
The Chronicle Recording Utility allows users to capture workflows from within Autodesk products. The utility records a continuous video screen capture and optionally voice narration. What makes Chronicle unique is that is also records the timing and details of workflow information, such as the tools, settings, and dialog boxes that are used during the workflow.Click here to keep reading
Whether you receive drawings from others or just need to fix up some sloppy work created in-house, you sometimes need to change layer names and properties for objects in your drawings so that they match your layer standards.
A great way to do this is to use the LAYTRANS command, that is, the layer translator. You specify sets of Translate From and Translate To layers based on existing drawings. For example, if you have a drawing with Layer1 (bad form!), you can translate it to the OBJECT layer. This process is called layer mapping.
Set up layer mapping - If the layer names in your current drawing are meaningless to you, I recommend that you start by writing down how you want to map these layers. AutoCAD WS is great for taking your drawings on the go, right? Of course. And one of its big advantages is that it natively reads DWG files, so there’s no conversion necessary when you upload or share.
But what if you want to send a drawing from WS to someone who’s not using it? Sure, you could try to convince them to create an account (It’s fast! It’s easy! It’s free!), but sometimes you might not have time even for that.

When you draw only simple objects, such as lines, rectangles and circles, it doesn’t make much difference which object is in front (on top) or in back (behind), because all objects are wireframes. You can see every object, unless one object is exactly on top of another–which isn’t considered a good practice.
But when you attach images, fill (hatch) objects with a solid fill, or create text, which object is in front and which is behind can be very important, because these objects can hide other objects.

So what’s so wrong if I use imperial template for my metric drawing? Nothing is wrong. You will just have more things to do. If you are a veteran AutoCAD user or if you already find the workaround, this will not be a big issue to you. But if you are a beginner, you will want everything to work out of the box. Autodesk has released several mobile applications on iOS and Android. Most of the apps are available for either platform. Some are for creating new designs; others are there for viewing files. Still others are used for communicating with your design team. Autodesk has even released a game for iOS. With all of the mobile apps out there, what do you need to know about them? - First off, most of the apps are free. The Sketchbook series (there are three versions) is the exception, but there is a free version of it as well. All of them work with their corresponding Autodesk “regular” versions. For example, the AutoCAD WS can open and edit regular AutoCAD files (.dwg). In fact, AutoCAD WS is made to work with AutoCAD. Why would you want to have AutoCAD, or any of these apps, on your phone? Who wants to create drawings on such a small screen? Not me. I have no desire to create a set of construction plans on my phone’s screen. And that’s okay, because that is not the purpose of these apps (except maybe Sketchbook on a tablet). These apps are intended not to replace their desktop counterparts but to supplement them. Did you know that you can set AutoCAD up to show you exactly how your plot will look, even before you Preview it? (You can click the Preview button in the Plot dialog box to preview your plot.) - It’s easy – when you know how.
